Meet the Owner of
Freja's Magic potions, Renee Boje
"For over thirty years, Renee Boje has walked the edge where plant wisdom meets the sacred feminine — gathering women, crafting medicine, and tending the living memory of the Goddess. Freja's Magic Potions is the flowering of that devotion."
Some people find the plants. Renee Boje was found by them.
From childhood, she felt a knowing in the presence of flowers, forests, and wild herbs — a pulse of recognition that the living world was speaking, and that she was meant to listen. That knowing has shaped everything: the decades of apprenticeship, the ceremonies held beneath open skies, the elixirs crafted in small batches on the edge of the Pacific, and the apothecary that exists today because she never stopped following where the plants led.
Renee's formal path with the plant world began in earnest in California in the early 1990s, through mentorships with herbalists and spiritual teachers deeply rooted in women's ceremonial plant medicine traditions. These were women who had devoted their lives to gathering women in sacred circle, teaching them to work with plants from seed and soil to finished preparation, honoring the living intelligence of each medicine along the way. Through apprenticeship, ceremony, and years of study across North America, Mexico, Brazil, and the Amazon, Renee learned that herbal crafting is not merely a skill. It is a relationship, with the plants, with the land, with the lineage of women who carried this knowledge before us.
In 1997 she arrived on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, and this place, its old-growth forests, its salt air, its particular quality of light, became home. Within years, she had founded the Sunshine Coast Goddess Spiral, a women's circle gathering community in seasonal ceremony, Wheel of the Year celebrations, and herbal crafting rites. These early years rooted her practice in the ceremonial traditions she still holds at the heart of her work today.
Her path continued to unfold and deepen. In 2006, she founded Shakti Blissful Botanicals on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, a beloved botanical haven and ceremonial gathering space where women met at the turning of the seasons for herbal crafting circles, feminine remembrance, and sacred rites. Through this work she developed and sold handcrafted botanical products while building a vibrant community presence that stretched beyond retail into the realm of lived experience.
That same devotion lives today in Freja's Magic Potions, a ceremonial botanical apothecary handcrafted with the full weight of those thirty-plus years behind every bottle, every blend, every offering. Named in honor of Renee's own Danish-Viking ancestry, and devoted to Freja, the Norse goddess of love, sovereignty, and Seiðr magic, this apothecary is not simply a product line. It is a living altar to the plant world, to the divine feminine, and to the ancient bond between women and the botanical realm.
Each creation is prepared ceremonially in small batches in Roberts Creek, using traditional herbal infusion methods, ethically sourced botanicals, and a deep reverence for the intelligence of the plants themselves. Every blend is crafted in honour of a goddess, flower nymph, or feminine archetype, an invitation with every use into ritual, beauty, and embodied remembrance.
Renee is currently completing her book, Plant Spirit Medicines and the Goddess, an exploration of the ancient relationship between divine feminine archetypes and the plant world. She is also preparing to revive her much-loved show on goddess archetypes and their botanical traditions, a series that has delighted and inspired audiences and is returning with new depth and vision. She offers seasonal herbal crafting workshops, Wheel of the Year ceremonies, and Botanical Enchantment Forest Retreats for women who feel the call to reconnect with the plant world and with themselves.
This is more than an apothecary. It is an invitation home.
